Women of Strength is sponsoring a scholarship is in honor of my mother, Vivian Moore Enoch Jeffries, an Alamance County resident who had to overcome many obstacles in life, but has never lost her faith, hope and love and has always believed in the power of education. This scholarship is for young women, in Alamance County, who have been accepted into an accredited college or university that plan to major in Human Services program (Psychology, Sociology, or any form of Mental Health Counseling, Substance Abuse Counseling) to help with books and/or tuition. Recipients of this scholarship will be requested to complete the application process, submit proof of acceptance and an essay.

Women of Strength is an educational organization, formed through the desire of its founder, Melissa Enoch-DeBerry to bring women together from different backgrounds, races, financial status to come together freely without any stigma or obligation attached.

Recipients of this scholarship will be requested to complete the application process, submit proof of acceptance and an essay.
THE PRIZE: One scholarship in the amount of $500 to one finalist who has been accepted into Alamance County Community College, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, University of Phoenix or Walden University.
CRITERIA: To be eligible for this award, the student must:
• Be a US Citizen
• Be a legal resident of the state of North Carolina
• Have a minimum grade point average of 3.0
• Plan to attend Alamance County Community College, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, University of Phoenix or Walden University.
• Be an upcoming college freshman

DOCUMENTATION: The student must supply all documentation in addition to this application) to be considered for this award in one completed submission
ACADEMIC: 1. A certified copy of your transcript 2.Copies of Awards and Honors 3. Copy of College Acceptance Letter
ESSAY: A concise essay (500 words) answering the following questions: What legacy will I leave behind for the next generation.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Include two written recommendations from adults (not family members) who have a valid connection with your academic performance, character and accomplishments.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT: Describe awards/honors received and/or offices held with extracurricular, work-or school-related activities. Feature community/volunteer activities you have participated in outside of school.

Incomplete applications will not be considered. All information must be completed and submitted for review by July 30, 2017. All applicants will be notified no later than August 10, 2017.
