Event Description: 
Primary Care is in a pivotal position to address the growing opioid and other substance use issues facing Maine’s citizens. However, it brings up critical questions about how best to do this and what resources and partnerships are needed? Embracing Substance Use Treatment and Recovery in Primary Care – A Community Approach Summit on SUD and OUD will explore these questions and more. Greater Portland Health in partnership with HRSA, CCSME and MMA brings the national experts, Seddon Savage, MD, Laura Kehoe, MD and others along with local experts to share their know and dialog together. Objectives: • Explain the science behind addiction and the evidence based practices for substance use disorders in primary care • Define resources and evidence based practices for working with families/significant others • Discuss how to treat those with high acuity in primary • Describe the crossroads primary care is facing
