Event Description: 
Purple wave continues is a quarterly multi-tiered "one-stop" Community Event which will allow individuals to receive holistic services at an all inclusive site. The purpose of this event is to let people know that prevention is possible and recovery from the mental health and substance use disorders is the expectation.

  • Purple Wave Continues is a quarterly multi-tiered, “one-stop” community event which will allow individuals to receive holistic services at an all-inclusive site. The purpose of this event is to let people know that prevention is possible and recovery from mental health and substance use disorders is the expectation.

On December 21, 2016 DC  Recovery Advisory Counncil (DC RAC) and consumer and family Affairs Administration supported the Deeds Of Kindness Outreach Event again providing sit down meals for 363 guests.25 guest recieved free hair cuts. One guest that recieved a hair cut stated that he hasn't had his hair cut in 2 years beacuse he didnt have  any money. 3 Female guest recieved free hair dues at a hair salon in Washington, DC. 2 guest were reconnected with their health care provider after 18 years of seperation. 4 Vulnerability Index Service Prioratization Decesion Assistat Tool (VI-SPDAT) assesments were completed. 8 guest were enrolled in Recovery Support Services. There were 26 Community Provifders present with services ranging from Home Health Care, Medical Health screening, Housing Programs, Substance Use Treatment Providers, Programs enrolling guest for health insurance, re-entery Programs, Department of Human Services (DHS) Homeless outreach services, Faith Based Leaders, Mental Health Providers, Cooperative agreement to Benifit Homeless Individuals (CABHI) homeless outreach providors, Department of behavioral health prevention mobaiizer present, and Dianetics stress testing.

There was lots of laughter, tears and unity from all that have been a part of the event. We have yet to hear a negative complaint from the community, however we are asked by the Community, when is the next event, and I would like to be a vendor or volunteer at the next event. Lets continue to bring to the community hope, love and healing through supporting of such great events (Deeds of Kindness Outreach Events)

The Next event will be held March 15 2017 and we look forward to more community involvement.
