Event Description: 
On Saturday, April 14, from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., the STEM students of​ North County High School will present their capstone project, ​"A Day in Someone Else's Shoes", an interactive mental health and substance use disorder festival to help you experience first-hand how mental health challenges ​and addiction can affect YOUR "Health, Home, Community and Purpose" (2018 SAMHSA Recovery Month theme) ​ Some highlights of the day include: * Federal, state and local representatives including ​keynote speaker, Jessica Hulsey-Nickel, President and CEO of Addiction Policy Forum (http://www.addictionpolicy.org/our-vision-and-direction) * Not My Child updates from Nancy Schrum, Office of the County Executive * Open mic activities from a diverse group of friends, family and those living with mental health challenges and or substance use disorder, facilitated by Fred Delp, CEO of NAMI (National Alliance of Mental Illness) Anne Arundel County Chapter * FREE Opioid Overdose Response Training ("Narcan to go" to the first 75 attendees, 18 years +) * Overview Screening of "Resilience"...The Biology of Stress and the Science of Hope... Baltimore Gift Economy * Anne Arundel County Public School's "Silent No More" Book Club * Behavioral he​alth vendors, student and community performances, food, and more ​​ There are many ways you can get involved: * exhibiting/providing resources from your organization (exhibitors: tables and chairs will be provided at no charge. An email update will be sent April 10, 2018) * sharing a 3-minute story of your mental health or substance use journey * volunteering * spreading the word * donating giveaways for 200+ attendees ​ * attending the event.
