This event will be held at Metropolitan Correctional Center Chicago, a federal prison, for 50-60 inmates who are currently enrolled in a CBT-based drug treatment program. This is an all-day event in which numerous guest speakers will be coming from the community to address the importance of family and community support with the inmates. Guest speakers include Above and Beyond Family Treatment Center, Federal Reentry Court (judges, probation, drug treatment specialist, Federal Defender's Program), and Marti MacGibbon, an internationally known author, speaker, and expert on trauma resolution and addiction. Inmates will also be given the opportunity to present testimonials to the group about their experience with addiction, recovery, and how they plan to utilize supports to maintain sobriety.
This will be the first event that MCC Chicago has ever put on for National Recovery Month. We hope that this will become a yearly event at the institution to demonstrate our commitment to re-entry services.
