FOA Families of Addicts Spreads Hope and Education at 4th Annual Rally 4 Recovery
Local non-profit organization advocating for recovery to host event in Dayton
Dayton, Ohio – The 4th Annual Rally 4 Recovery hosted by FOA Families of Addicts will be held on August 27th from
3:00 –6:00 pm at Courthouse Square in downtown Dayton. Mahajan Therapeutics is a co-sponsor of the rally, adding a mental health presence to the agenda. The purpose of the FOA Rally 4 Recovery is:
To unite the people and resources of the Miami Valley to:
• Eliminate the stigma associated with addiction & mental health disorders
• Educate about addiction & mental health disorders
• Celebrate and show that recovery is possible and that it works!
This is a free event welcoming the entire family, including individuals seeking or in long-term recovery. The event will include 50 resource tables with information on recovery and related support services. A numbered list will be published in the program for easy navigation. Keynote speakers include Attorney General Mike DeWine and Tim Ryan, national advocate, who has written a book, From Dope to Hope and was the feature in an A&E special, Dopeman. Music will be provided by Rising Life Band, whose single, My Sunny Day is number two on the Christian Radio Charts. They will be performing a balanced selection of cover band and Christian songs. Highlights include: a raffle, food trucks, TapSnap digital photo booth, face-painting, and a hope and memories canvas to sign. Two of FOA’s signature events are: “The Big Picture” group photo and the Balloon Launch featuring 2600 white, red, yellow and green balloons signifying a personal or loved one's place in recovery. We expect between 2,000 and 5,000 attendees because there will not be a Hope Over Heroin event in Montgomery County. For this reason, we have incorporated a balanced agenda and resource selection of a faith-based presence. A Rally 4 Recovery 5K walk/run will start at 6:15, hosted by the DEA 360 Strategy with proceeds benefitting FOA Families of Addicts and the Montgomery Drug Free Coalition. Call Dave Ashley at 937-823-9198 for more information about the 5K.
This year free parking and shuttle service will be available starting at 2:30 and ending at 6:30 (3 busses). Free parking is available at Sinclair lots B, E or K, shuttle will pick up and drop off at each lot continuously throughout the event. The 5K shuttle (1 bus) will end at 8:30.
FOA has received over 38 sponsorships to date, which will help to fund not only this event, but work they do in five Ohio counties (Montgomery, Clark, Miami, Shelby and Darke)

FOA would love pre-coverage of this event as well as publishing the Big Picture in print and video. One of the best ways to eliminate the stigma of addiction is to be the face and voice. There will be a VIP/Media/Speaker tent off Main Street for your convenience in contacting Founder Executive Director, Lori Erion or other FOA staff or attendees the day of the event.
