Voices for Recovery

Melinda Hasbrouck (12/28/2012)

It's been 10 years since the onset of my mental health disorders.  I am happy to say that my recovery took great strides this year although I encountered some difficult moments in life.  I am going back to school in January to start the pursuit of a doctoral degree and am starting the first year on a scholarship at GWU. I can appreciate all the programs that support recovery, such as my mental health agency, Community Connections, and my state agency, DC Department of Mental Health.  The Office of Consumer and Family Affairs at DMH really led me to a significant jumping point in my recovery through their certified peer specialist training program.
