The theme of the 25th Annual Recovery Month encourages people to openly discuss and speak up about behavioral health conditions and the reality of recovery. To support this goal, SAMHSA is sponsoring a live, interactive webcast on September 15, 2014 at 12:00PM CST. This event, broadcast from Dallas, Texas, will bring together a panel of leading experts and experienced practitioners in recovery and health to start the national discussion and help catalyze local discussions and action plans through community-level “echo events”.
The webcast will expand the understanding of the role peers play in recovery, foster dialogue at national, state, and local levels on how to integrate peer-based recovery throughout all systems of care, and provide specific, concrete action steps that people can take to foster the spread of peer-based recovery. To start these recovery discussions, it is essential that a wide array of individuals and groups are actively engaged. To be effective, we need community members, healthcare providers, policymakers, funders, and leaders from the public and private sectors to come together and collaborate.
