Biography
Nancy K. Young, Ph.D., M.S.W.
Dr. Young serves as the full-time Director of Children and Family Futures, Inc. During the past five years, she has worked as a consultant to over 20 states and regional offices on prevention and treatment issues affecting families involved with welfare and child welfare. In 1995, she received the President's Award from the National Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Directors and in 1998 received an award from the County Alcohol and Drug Program Administrators Association of California (CADPAAC) for research/evaluation in recognition of service to those organizations and her publications on prevention and treatment issues. She worked as a consultant to the Directorate of the California Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs (DADP) from 1993-97.
Dr. Young has served as a consultant to the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment in reviewing states' submissions to CSAT for treatment outcomes projects. Dr. Young has also been involved in the Systems of Care Redesign (SOCR) effort launched by DADP in 1997, serving as the co-chair of the The Managed Care Policy Advisory Committee (MCPAC, sub-committee) which developed recommendations for changes in the assessment, during treatment, and outcome information data systems. This effort is being implemented in the California Treatment Outcome Project (CalTOP). In June 1998, Dr. Young chaired a consensus panel convened by the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment for development of a Treatment Improvement Protocol (TIP) entitled "Linking Vocational Services with Substance Abuse Treatment."
