Recovery Expo 2000

*Abstract/Description of Event/Activity:
People With Recovery and Disabilities (Tucson, Arizona). PWRD is proud to be lead sponsor of Tucson's Second Annual Recovery Expo on Saturday September 9, 2000. The Expo will be held in a newly renovated public housing facility and a neighborhood association park. Last year this event brought together over 250 consumers, family members, providers and community agencies, and they expect to double the number this year. Speakers will include the Mayor of Tucson and judges from the juvenile and adult model drug courts. There will be hourly support group meetings (including 12-Step, Native American and SMART recovery), consumer panels on special issues, over 40 information tables, music and entertainment, and lots of food and fun. While PWRD took the lead in organizing this event, it actively solicited community partners and was able to raise more than $1,000 plus countless in-kind contributions.
