Title of Event/Activity: Community Forum

Abstract/Description of Event/Activity: In observance of National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month, Project Neighborhood, a coordinated community-wide effort to reduce alcohol and drug abuse, will release findings from its recent six-month report. The report will utilize supporting data from Project Neighborhood’s primary community partners; Truman Medical Center, the Kansas City Police Department, the Kansas City School District, Jackson County Family Court, COMBAT Drug Court, and the State of Missouri Probation and Parole Services.

The report will be presented to members of the Kansas City Chamber of Commerce – Drugs Don’t Work program, members of the Employees Assistance Program Association (EAPA), as well as representatives from public and privately funded treatment centers and co-sponsoring agencies and organizations.

Key partners, as mentioned above will include:

  • The Ad Hoc Group Against Crime.
  • COMBAT (Community Backed Anti-Drug Tax) of Jackson County
  • Mid-American Addiction Technology Transfer Center (funded by CSAT)
  • Kansas City Chamber of Commerce – Drugs Don’t Work program
  • Employees Assistance Program Association (EAPA)
  • Area treatment providers

Date(s) of the Event/Activity: September 23, 1999 from 7:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. at the University Center, Westport Room, University of Missouri-Kansas City. A continental breakfast will be served.
